Charity Preview - Responsive to our Community

We're thrilled to welcome some of the new community organizations to our Charity Preview. This is Brendan Crouth from Responsive to our Community. This organization supports veterans, women and the community by rehabbing houses throughout Syracuse. They will be raising funds through Charity Preview ticket sales. Please support the 13 community organizations by purchasing a ticket to our Charity Preview coming up on November 1st.

HISTORY

In the summer of 1998 auto dealer Roger Burdick approached the board of directors of the Syracuse Auto Dealers Association with a proposal to stage a black-tie fundraising preview party on the night preceding the opening of the Association's annual auto show.

Based on a similar event at the Detroit Auto Show, Burdick hoped the Syracuse community would embrace this unique opportunity to raise funds for community minded organizations. What has evolved from that time until today has become one of Central New York's most successful fundraising events.

Guests are treated to a private preview of the annual auto show to the accompaniment of three different musical groups, outstanding food, and the newest and most exciting cars and trucks.

A special Charity Preview committee of area auto dealers was formed and tasked to identify appropriate charities who could benefit from the preview and to organize the evening's program. An emphasis was placed on selecting charities that served children and families. That emphasis continues today. The six original charities have grown to thirteen charities today.

Thanks to the major underwriters, all of the costs for the evening are covered by their generous donations. Since its inception each of the charities has received 90% to 100% of the money raised through ticket sales; gold, silver, and bronze corporate sponsorships; and individual donations.

The annual Auto Expo Charity Preview luncheon was held Monday March 21st, 2017 at the Palace Theatre in Eastwood. Proceeds from the Auto Expo Charity Preview were distributed among the 14 participating charities and organizations.  Check out our photo gallery from the event here.

The 18th Annual Auto Show Charity Preview held on February 10th was the largest attended and most financially successful event since its inception. According to preview co-chairs Jim Barr and Gino Barbuto, a record of over $287,222.02 in ticket sales and donations was distributed to 14 local charities. The preview committee raised sufficient underwriting that enabled the charities to receive 100% of ticket sale proceeds. The 18-year total is over 3 million dollars and the funds will remain in the CNY community.
